Sharath wins 50m gold

Cash award in V.P. Sathyan’s name
Over 300 participants are in the fray

CHENNAI: Keen competition marked the opening day of the two-day Hindustan University second inter-school and inter-collegiate swimming meet on Friday at the SDAT pool in Velachery.

Over 300 participants from various schools and colleges are taking part.

To recognise the second death anniversary of V.P. Sathyan, former Indian football captain, organisers have decided to present cash award (Rs. 2,000) in his name to the best swimmer in the boys’ and girls’ categories.

Sharath Mukundan bagged the 50m breaststroke gold in the boys’ section.
