Special Correspondent

Rare manuscript in Pali language in Tamil University, Thanjavur.

THANJAVUR: The Tamil University here is in possession of a rare manuscript in Pali language.

There are 45 manuscripts in Pali language in the palm leaf bundle.

In every page five cms of space has been left on either side. Eleven lines have been written in each page. In some pages headings are given.

Explaining about the manuscript, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil University M. Rajendran told presspersons here on Friday that the manuscripts have gold coating on edges and red coating in the middle.

The bundle is bound using two beautiful red wooden frames and the letters are very legible.

The Vice-chancellor appealed to experts in Pali language to help decipher what is written in the manuscript.
