Militants fire at forward post, jawan injured

Jammu: A jawan at a forward post along the Line of Control in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir was critically injured when militants fired at the post, a defence spokesman said on Friday.

Defence spokesman Colonel S.D. Goswami ruled out the involvement of Pakistani troops in the incident that occurred on Thursday evening stating that Pakistan rangers from across the border had not violated the ceasefire.

Pachadaa Biswaja from Assam was critically wounded when militants fired at the forward Pona post in the Mendhar sub-sector of Poonch district, Col. Goswami.

Biswaja was airlifted to the Udhampur base Command Hospital.

“It was not an incident of ceasefire violation at all from across the border. Only militants had fired from across the LoC,” Col. Goswami said and added that an investigation was on. — PTI
