‘Nuke deal not harmful’

HYDERABAD: All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesman K. Keshav Rao has reiterated the party’s stand that the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal did not contain any provisions that were against the interests of the country.

Blind opposition to the deal that would benefit the country in the long term by some parties would amount to taking an “anti-national” stand. “The nuclear deal is necessary for sustaining the more than nine per cent growth rate and meet the energy requirements of the country,” he said. Dr. Rao was participating in a seminar on the “Indo-US nuclear deal” organised by the Rajiv Study Circle here on Thursday.
