“Cricket and Sri Lanka, a great combination”

Special Correspondent

Chennai: “Sri Lanka is a beautiful country. And the cricket played in the series should be extremely competitive. It should be a great combination. This is a nice time to visit us,” said Sri Lanka Cricket chairman Arjuna Ranatunga at an event to promote tourism in the emerald island here on Thursday.

Sri Lanka Cricket has a tie-up with TravelOrg Holidays Private Ltd, the official tour operator for the forthcoming India – Sri Lanka cricket series. On offer are various packages, including match tickets, for tourists and cricket lovers from India who plan to visit Sri Lanka during the three-Test and five-match ODI series.

“Sri Lanka has exotic locales and is so close to India. You have lovely beaches and ancient structures in Galle. And you can find some great Buddhist monuments in Dambulla. Colombo is a lively city,” said Ranatunga, who was accompanied by Sri Lanka’s latest spinning sensation, Ajantha Mendis.

The different packages for the Tests and the ODIs range from Rs. 13,900 to Rs. 5,685.

“The association with the Sri Lankan cricket board is indeed an honour,” said K. Venkatesh, CEO TravelOrg Holidays.
