Plea to absorb relief workers
Staff Reporter
PUDUKOTTAI: District unit of Tamil Nadu Revenue Officials’ Association has urged the State Government to regularise workers executing the tsunami-relief programme in the coastal districts of the State.
A resolution adopted at its meeting held here recently said that these employees should be regularised and posted on a priority basis.
Referring to the delay in results of a test conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, the resolution urged the State Government to expedite the publication of the results. Pointing out that as many as 2,500 posts of Junior Assistants and Assistants were lying vacant in the Revenue Department all over the state, the meeting, through a resolution, urged the state government to conduct a special recruitment test to fill the vacancies.
The meeting also adopted another resolution urging the State Government to construct a new Taluk Office in Aranthangi.
The old building lacked space to accommodate the employees and the public.
