CGT holds East Bengal

KOLKATA: Kingfisher East Bengal suffered an early jolt as it was held 1-1 by Camellia George Telegraph (CGT) in its second outing of the Calcutta Football League’s premier division on Thursday.

In the match at the Salt Lake Stadium, East Bengal struggled for greater part of the action unable to find the right attacking options.

The first session ended barren with both the sides sharing missed opportunities. It was left to former international Alvito D’Cunha to give East Bengal the lead in the 50th minute. But the former champion failed to hold on to the advantage for long as Telegraph found the equaliser in the 65th minute through Nigerian striker Francis Chibueze.

The latter, who gave the East Bengal defence a tough time, was also declared the man-of-the-match. — Principal Correspondent
