New products from Sony by September

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Japanese electronics giant Sony will unveil a new range of products, including Vaio laptops, MP3 players, LCD and plasma televisions and a new range of digital imaging products, by September to increase its presence in the growing Indian market.

“We also have plans to bring a new range of digital imaging products by January-February next year,” Sony India Managing Director Masaru Tamagawa told a news conference here on Wednesday.

Turnover target

Stating that it was bullish on the Indian market, Sony said it was aiming to clock a turnover of Rs. 4,000 crore and is doubling its advertising and marketing campaign budget for LCD televisions. ``This fiscal we are targeting to touch a turnover of Rs. 4,000 crore, up from last year’s Rs. 3,000 crore,” he said.

The company had now a share of 25 per cent in the one-million unit LCD TV market. The aim was to take it to 30 per cent in the next two years, Mr. Tamagawa said.

The company also unveiled its three new series of the Bravia LCD displays.
