AIDWA meeting gets under way

CHENNAI: The three-day South Chennai district conference of the All-India Democratic Women’s Association began here on Thursday with a procession, which culminated in a public meeting.

According to AIDWA State general secretary U. Vasuki, the conference, among other things, would discuss rising prices of essential commodities and the Indo-U.S. nuclear treaty and its impact on the country’s sovereignty. —Special Correspondent
