Collector inspects development works
Staff Reporter
Namakkal: Collector U. Sagayam directed the officials to remove all the encroachments on the government lands, water carrying channels and water bodies in the district.
Encroachments
Inspecting the development works being carried out under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in Rasipuram and Mohanur blocks on Wednesday and Thursday, he said that stern action would be initiated against persons if they encroached upon the government lands.
Livelihood security
The Collector instructed the officials to carry out frequent inspections and ensure proper implementation of the works being taken up under the scheme.
He said that the scheme was aimed at enhancing the livelihood security of households in rural areas by providing at least 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in every financial year to every household.
The scheme also aims to minimise the migration of people from the rural areas to urban parts in search of employment and empower the rural poor.
The Collector inspected works in Arasapalayam, Malayaimpatti, Singilandapuram villages, coming under Rasipuram block, and Aandapuram, Aniyapuram, Aariyur, Arur, Lathuvadi, Manapalli, N. Puthupatti, Olapalayam, Peramandampalayam and Tholur villages, coming under Mohanur block.
District Rural Development Agency Project Officer P. Renuga Devi and senior officials were present.
