Rhythm and rapture: Students of The PSBB Millennium School perform at its third annual day celebrations in Chennai on Wednesday. CHENNAI: The greatness of Mahatma Gandhi, Subramania Bharathi, and Nelson Mandela, the true Pied Pipers, who attracted thousands of people through their ideals, was brought out in a mammoth production by students of The PSBB Millennium School at its 3rd annual day celebrations on Wednesday. The event `The Pied Piper Through the Ages,’ a musical extravaganza, was based on leadership and examples of leaders. The Pied Piper of Hamelin raised the hopes of people with the music of his pipe but at the same time when the people did not keep their word, he taught them a lesson. The programme in which over 850 students took part, started with a prayer `Sharanam Siddhi Vinayaka’ with senior students presenting the invocation in three dance forms — Bharathanatyam, Odissi and Mohiniattam. The nursery children presented a montage of great gurus such as Adi Sankara, Ramanujam, Tukaram, Raghavendra, Buddha and Prabhupada. This was accompanied by the school choir. Then came the Pied Piper with the lone crippled child, who could not keep pace with the others, touching the audiences’ heart. Over 230 children from class II to IX participated in this piece. The grand finale to the show that lasted over an hour and half was bringing on to the stage the Perfect Teacher – Dean-Director, PSBB Group of Schools, Mrs. Y.G. Parthasarathy, who launched the school’s interactive website. “In just three years time the school has grown and it now has 2,000 students. PSBB stands for Perfection in all endeavours, scholastic excellence, Bharatiya Sanskriti and Bhavishya –Vigyan.” She also released the school magazine. Lyricist Pa. Vijay, who presided over the function, gave away prizes to students who excelled in various fields. PSBB Group of schools Principal Sheela Rajendra, The PSBB Millennium School principal Sita Umamaheswaran, Advisor Rukmini Motilal, General Manager Colonel R. Badhran and Educom Director (education-empowerment) Aslesha Takur were present on the occasion.
