Extract promise on Gorkhaland: GJM

Kolkata: With every vote crucial in the trust vote in the Lok Sabha on July 22, the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) has asked the Congress MP representing the Darjeeling constituency to extract a commitment from the party that the United Progressive Alliance government will take up the GJM’s demand for a separate state.

GJM president Bimal Gurung reportedly spoke to Dawa Norbula, the local Congress MP, on Wednesday and advised him to ensure the government’s support to the statehood demand as a condition for a favourable vote to the confidence motion.
