IT raid on premises of edible oil seller

CHENNAI: The Income Tax Department conducted searches on the premises of a leading edible oil seller and manufacturer on Wednesday.

An official release stated that more than 150 personnel from the department were engaged in the operations carried out in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The authorities searched six premises, including refineries, and surveyed 14 other business premises/factories.

Apart from edible oil business, the group is also engaged in jewellery and hotel business. Further investigation is on, the release added.
