CLEAR PATH: Encroachments demolished near the Stanley Medical College.

Chennai: The Chennai Corporation on Wednesday removed encroachments near the Stanley Medical College.

About 60 makeshift shops, including fruit and snacks stalls, were razed down, said Corporation zonal officials.

About two truck loads of wooden planks and plastics, which were used to put up the stalls, were carted away.

The encroachment removal drive followed an appeal from road users. Some of the shops were also brick structures that had come up illegally.
