Hitting a high in ‘meditation’

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: A man created a flutter in Zam Bazaar here on Tuesday by climbing on to the Rajagopuram of Thiruvateeswarar Temple to meditate there.

It was his way of demanding adequate protection to devotees participating in the Amarnath yatra.

Police said Muthu Arangasamy (54) of Coimbatore scaled the Rajagopuram and started his meditation. One of the curious onlookers alerted the police who reached the spot within minutes. Arangasamy ignored the requests made by the police to come down and continued his meditation.

However, after repeated pleas by the police and temple authorities, he climbed down but sat on meditation again. Later, he placed his demand seeking protection to devotees of Lord Shiva who took part in the Amarnath yatra.
