Bangalore: The cosy interiors of Ambara in Ulsoor now glimmer with Arnav Design Studio’s jewellery. In an exhibition that is on from July 12 to 16, the design store showcases reproduced and restored gold and silver antique jewellery. Ashwini Oza, designer of the jewellery, presents some quirky and interesting designs of her own, replete with flowers and butterflies, while her gold jewellery is trendy and fresh. The highlight of the exhibition is the restored antique jewellery. “We have taken a number of old pieces and kept them in their original form to create something new,” says Ms. Oza. All the antique pieces are discoveries of travel of the two people behind Arnav Design Studio, Ms. Oza and Chetan G.R. The jewellery pieces go through a process of cleaning because often the grooves between the stones have dirt or oil between them and sometimes the gold or silver foils are changed. The results are unusual pieces like a nath or a nose-ring as the centrepiece of an elaborate gold necklace. Old pieces with temple motifs and old-world designs find themselves as hoop earrings and may appeal to younger buyers. The gold jewellery ranges between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 5 lakh. Also displayed is an array of silver jewellery that ranges anywhere between Rs. 500 to Rs. 40,000. Apart from the exhibition, one can take a look at Ambara’s own range of products. CafeAmbara now has a café called “The Rogue Elephant”, where one can grab a quick bite while shopping. The exhibition is open between 10.30 a.m. and 7 p.m. till July 16.
