PROUD MOMENT: The MSP Solainadar team which won the men’s basketball title seen with Shiny Wilson, Wilson Cherian and Dr. Babu Manoharan. Chennai: The three-day South Zone inter-school sports festival organised by the St. Joseph’s College of Engineering concluded on Monday. No institution monopolised outcomes although the strength of district schools stood pronounced. Among the notable winners were MDS HSS (Kottayam) in volleyball and MSP Solainadar HSS (Dindigul) in basketball. International swimmer and Arjuna Awardee, Wilson Cherian, gave away the prizes along with Padma Shri Shiny Wilson. Dr. Babu Manoharan, Director, St. Joseph’s presided. Cash prizes of Rs. five lakh were given away. Final placings: Men: Volleyball: 1. MDS HSS (Kottayam), 2. Khajamian HSS (Cuddalore), 3. Veludaiyar HSS (Thiruvaroor). Basketball: 1.MSP Solainadar HSS (Dindigul), 2. Don Bosco HSS (Thrisur), 3. Govt. Boys HSS (Aranthangi). Football: 1. YMCA Sports HSS (Chennai), 2. American College HSS (Madurai), 3. Aringar Anna HSS (Poonamallee). Ball badminton: 1.T.A. HSS (Thiruvidaimaruthur), 2. Vignesh Srinivas HSS (Srirangam), 3. G.S. Hindu HSS (Srivilliputhur). Kabaddi: 1. Govt. HSS (Karur) 2. Govt. HSS (Salem), 3. AVD HSS (Ganapathiyapuram). Women: Kabaddi: 1. Govt. HSS (Rajakamangalam), 2. St. Joseph’s Girls HSS (Jolarpet), 3. Govt. Girls HSS (Thandrampet). Ball badminton: 1. GRM HSS (Thiruvaroor), 2. Lady Sivasamy HSS (Chennai), 3. OCPM School (Madurai). Basketball: 1.Bharathiya Vidya Bahavan Matriculation HSS (Erode), 2. Lady Sivasamy HSS (Chennai), 3.
