Man found dead on pavement

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The partially burnt body of a man, aged about 35, was found on a pavement on Govindan Road in Kumaran Nagar police limits on Monday.

The dead person’s identity is yet to be established.

Locals who saw the body informed the police around 5.30 a.m. R. Sekar, Commissioner of Police, Chennai, said: “We are looking into different angles. The man would have been murdered and then the body could have been burnt.”

The police were also probing whether this murder had any connection with the murder of watchmen in the city. Patrolling during early hours of the day would be further intensified, he added.
