Contempt rule against 3 CPI(M) leaders
Special Correspondent
KOLKATA: The Calcutta High Court on Friday issued a contempt rule against three CPI(M) leaders, including Polit Bureau member Biman Bose, for their “derogatory remarks” against its order on the March 14, 2007 police firing at Nandigram. They have been directed to appear before the court on August 8.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice S.S. Nijjar and Justice P.C. Ghose issued the order, dissatisfied with their replies to a show-cause.
The court had on November 16, 2007 described the firing in Nandigram as unconstitutional and illegal. The following day the CPI(M) leadersallegedly made derogatory comments with intent to undermine the judiciary, said the petitioners.
