Beltran tests positive

AURILLAC: Doping is back at the Tour de France. It did not stay away very long.

The peaceful lull that had observers feeling optimistic did not last longer than a week, and the showcase race that was plunged into the depths of despair last year, sank right back down again following news on Friday of Manuel Beltran’s positive test for the performance-enhancer EPO.

He was immediately kicked out of the Tour and suspended by his team, Liquigas. — AP
