Mohun Bagan beats Peerless

Kolkata: Defending champion Mohun Bagan started its premier division campaign of the Calcutta Football League on a confident note beating Peerless SC 3-0 here at its home ground on Friday. Mohun Bagan’s attack-line stuck to its task scoring all the three goals in the match.

P. Lalawmpuia gave a bright start to Mohun Bagan scoring in the first minute of the match. He scored off a mighty throw by defensive colleague Peter Odafe before making it 2-0 for the home side in the 13th minute.

Mohun Bagan rode into the second session with a two-goal cushion and completed dominance over a disjointed opposition by getting substitute Branco Vincent Cardoso to complete the tally in the 82nd minute. — Principal Correspondent
