The singing legend will host ‘Sunaada Vinodini’ a musical programme for Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel of the TTD
New role: S.P. Balasubramaniam and Bhakti Channel CEO K.S. Sharma at a media conference. HYDERABAD: Singing legend S.P. Balasubramanyam is back on telly. As the avuncular host-mentor to scores of youngsters and even children, he had brought the latent musical talent all over the State to the fore. And his programmes are always a must see for all households. Mr. Balasubrahmanyam is attempting something slightly different this time. ‘Sunaada Vinodini’is a musical programme, alright but one which covers devotional, classical, folk and scores from films that come with certain respectability, he said. Sunday showThe programme is being made for the newly launched Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and will be telecast every Sunday and a repeat telecast on Mondays. The precise timings of the schedule would be announced shortly. The serial is being recorded at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, Chikkadpally with around 400 to 500 viewers. “Through their feedback, I can correct mistakes if there are any,” he says in all humility. Interestingly, he reveals that more girls were selected during the auditions for the show conducted in the city, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam while the hunt for “good talent” among boys would continue. He is happy that many participants from his earlier hugely popular shows such as ‘Padalani Undi’ and ‘Padutha Theeyaga’ have already achieved recognition. “It is a good trend that parents are taking their children to ‘gurus’ for at least basics of classical music for shows on the channels,” he notes. Care would be taken in presentation to selection of talent and also what they sing in the programme. “I assure that the show will be of highest standards and it will be a milestone,” he says. Each episode would start with a ‘Vishnu Sahasranamam sloka’ and end with ‘Subhashithalu’ accompanied by a brief explanation. S.V. Bhakti Channel CEO K.S.Sarma describes ‘Sunaada Vinodini’ as the flagship presentation for the channel. For prime time, the channel has lined up serials based on religion, culture and tradition.
