Khade sets 50m freestyle National record

BANGALORE: Virdhawal Khade created a new 50m freestyle National record on the third day day of the second FINA World Youth Swimming Championships at Monterrey, Mexico.

In the 50m freestyle semifinal Khade clocked a National best time of 22.69 seconds, erasing Sebastian Xavier’s 1998 record of 22.89. His time is also faster than the previous meet record time of 22.74s.

Khade now holds five National records — in the 50m, 100m, 200m and the 400m freestyle, and the 50m butterfly.
