Raghothama Rao to head APERC

HYDERABAD: The name of A. Raghothama Rao, who retired as Chief Secretary on superannuation of his service recently, has been reportedly cleared for the post of chairman of Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The search committee to select the person for the coveted post, consisting of Chief Secretary P. Ramakantha Reddy, the chairman of the Central Electricity Authority and a retired High Court judge, sat here and considered the list which contained three other names too.

The choice of the committee fell on Mr Raghothama Rao, considering his rich experience as administrator. R Raghothama Rao who belongs to the 1970 batch of IAS officers, served the government in various capacities, including as Chief Commissioner, Land Administration, before he became Chief Secretary.

Orders appointing him as chairman of the APERC are likely to be issued in a day or two after formal approval by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
