Beneficiary can visit the site from time to time during construction Townships will be self-contained with all amenities
‘I am on the job’: Managing Director of Rajiv Swagruha Corporation Shalini Mishra explaining a point to Andhra Pradesh Housing Minister Botcha Satyanarayana and Minister for Commercial Taxes Konathala Ramakrishna, during a presentation on the Rajiv Swagruha project, in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. MLA Dronamraju Srinivas, Joint Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah and Mayor P. Janardhana Rao are also seen. VISAKHAPATNAM: The Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana has said that tenders will be called for construction of houses under the Rajiv Swagruha scheme at Yendada in 10 days and the unit cost payable by the applicant would be worked out subsequently. In an informal chat with the media following a presentation on Rajiv Swagruha on Thursday, he said that the Yendada project christened ‘Adraja’ would be completed in two years. The applicant would have to be prepared for a cost escalation of up to 10 per cent during the execution of the project but anything beyond that would be borne by the Government. Model housesWhile the project would strictly adhere to all quality parameters, the beneficiary could visit the site from time to time during the construction stage and satisfy himself/herself of the work being done. The construction of model houses for each of the four categories would be completed in two months and construction of the actual units would begin in two-and-a-half months time. Mr. Satyanarayana said that the target was construction of 1.75 lakh houses in three years under Rajiv Swagruha in the State. While 45,000 houses would be constructed in the first year, 75,000 would be constructed during the second year and the remaining houses in the final year. He said that a site has been identified at Nerellavalasa in Bheemunipatnam for the construction of flats. The original plan of individual houses at Bheemunipatnam, Anakapalle, Mangalagiri and other municipalities was given up due to non-availability of Government land. Efforts were also being made to acquire private lands also wherever possible. He said that construction of houses under Rajiv Swagruha had already started in Hyderabad, Nellore, Kakinada and Vetlapalem. Boon to middle classMinister for Commercial Taxes Konathala Ramakrishna described Rajiv Swagruha as a boon to middle class people who could not afford to buy houses from real estate dealers at high costs. The unit cost would be fixed at 25 per cent less than the prevailing market rate. The townships would be self-contained with all amenities like gated community, underground drainage, piped gas and multi-storeyed parking. Managing Director of Rajiv Swagruha Corporation Limited Shalini Mishra spoke about the salient features of the project. MLAs Dronamraju Srinivas, T. Gurumurthy Reddy and Gandi Babji, Mayor P. Janardhana Rao, Zilla Parishad Chairman Gorle Rammurthy Naidu and Joint Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah were among those who attended. Sketches of the Rajiv Swagruha projects, planned in various parts of the State, were put on display at an exhibition organised on the occasion.
