NBS and Young Star have been promoted to the first division. — Sports Reporter National GamesThe Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) have, in principle, agreed to the Kerala State Sports Council’s (KSSC) request to host the 34th National Games at Thiruvananthapuram next year. The main events will be held in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi and Kozhikode will organise some events, said Kerala Sports and Youth Affairs Minister M. Vijayakumar in new Delhi on Wednesday. The State had won the chance to host the Games despite stiff competition from Uttar Pradesh. The mandatory bid money of Rs. one crore had already been deposited with the Centre, he said. Earlier addressing the conference of the State ministers of youth affairs and sports held here, Mr. Vijayakumar welcomed the Centre’s newly introduced Panchayat Yuva Khel Aur Krida Abhiyan (PYKKA) to develop sports at village level and said the State government was already providing funds to the local self governments for creation of sports infrastructures.
