NEW DELHI: The 17-member Institute Body of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is scheduled to meet here on July 17 to constitute a committee that will select a Director for the premier institute. The nine-member committee, chaired by Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss will have Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University, Union Health and Family Welfare Secretary, Director-General of the Indian Council for Medical Research and Union Human Resource Development Ministry (Higher Education) Secretary as its members, while four other members will be nominated. The selection committee will scrutinise the applications that fell vacant on July 2 after Mr. P. Venugopal demitted office. The acting Director, T.D. Dogra, is one of the many aspirants for the post. The selection process is expected to be completed in a month. The government invited nominations on May 24. Applications were sought from Non-Resident Indians and Persons of Indian Origin too. A Health Ministry official said applications were even received from abroad.
