Actor receives parcel of explosive substance

CHENNAI: A television serial actor received a parcel containing country-made explosive substance here on Tuesday.

Police said Swaminathan (48) of sixth sector in K.K. Nagar received a courier around noon addressed to him. The parcel contained a threatening letter and country-made explosive powder connected to some batteries.

Mr. Swaminathan alerted the K.K. Nagar police who informed the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad.

A similar parcel was also received at the office of a television channel at Nungambakkam, the police said.
