MADURAI: The Co-optex has introduced a new scheme, ‘Co-optex pure silk/cotton sari savings scheme,’ to enable people of all sections own a pure silk sari. The scheme will run for 10 months. Customers will have to pay nine instalments only and the last instalment will be paid by the Co-optex. Besides, there is a rebate of 20 to 30 per cent. “Whatever rebate the government offers, we will pass it on to our customers,” said its Regional Manager P. Isakki. If a customer pays Rs. 1,000 for nine months, she is entitled to buy a sari for Rs.12, 500 (under 20 per cent rebate) or Rs.14,290 (under 30 per cent rebate). The benefit to customers, including the last instalment paid by the Co-optex, would amount to Rs.3, 500 under 20 per cent rebate or Rs.5,287 under 30 per cent rebate. The monthly instalment ranges from Rs. 100 to Rs. 1,000. Wait and buyThe unique aspect of the scheme was that customers could wait to avail themselves of the benefits of 30 per cent rebate, instead of buying saris immediately on maturity, Mr. Isakki said. There are three showrooms — on Venkalakadai Street and South Chithirai Street, and American College shopping complex — in the city. For more details, contact at 2344047 or 2530703 or 2621754.
