MFJ College enters semifinals

HYDERABAD: Muffakham Jah College defeated Little Flower (TVG) 1-0 to enter the semifinals of the Sachdev Sports Cup inter-Collegiate football tournament, organised by Shastri Soccer Club, at the Trimulgherry Village grounds here on Monday.

The match-winner came in the 45th minute of the second half through Sayeed.

Good spell by Ojha

Good spell by Prince Ojha (five for 71) helped MCC restrict Khalsa to 258 on the first day of the ‘A’ division (two-day) league cricket championship here. In reply, MCC was 105 for two at close.

The scores:

‘A’ division (two-day): Central Excise 301 (B. Gautham 56, Ashwin Kumar 47) vs. Mega City; Khalsa 258 (Sardar Pal Singh 49 n.o., Shaikh Mohammad 40, Prince Ojha five for 71) vs. MCC 105 for two (Naveen Kumar 60 batting).

Easy for TCS

Tata Consultancy Services recorded a nine-wicket win over Monster.com in the third SBH Twenty20 corporate cricket tournament here.

ITC 182 for five (Sadanand 48) bt Tapasvi Nissan 79; NMDC 156 for five bt HDFC Bank 136 for nine (Triguna 41); Kun Group 100 (Khanna four for seven) lost to Issilica Networks 104 for four; Aegis BPO 110 lost to Dr. Reddy’s 113 for five.

Dell International 156 for five (Prasad 64 n.o.) lost to Sierra Atlantic 157 for eight (Karthik 46); HSBC (GLT) 78 lost to Deloitte 79 for two; Satyam BPO 71 (Zaffar four for 11) lost to Hyderabad House 72 for four; Vaartha 114 for seven (Shahnawaz 51) bt Hindi Milaap 98.

Monster.com 68 (Venkat four for 22) lost to Tata Consultancy Services 71 for one.

Dhoni XI posts win

At Vijayawada, Dhoni XI defeated Tendulkar XI by 27 runs in the Krishna District Cricket Association’s under-14 selection match at Siddhartha Medical College grounds on Monday.

The scores:

Dhoni XI 89 in 45.4 overs (Sri Ram three for 12) bt Tendulkar XI 62 in 40 overs (Aniruth four for five).

SCR kabaddi

The three-day South Central Railway inter-Divisional kabaddi tournament will commence at the Satyanarayanapuram Railway Institute grounds from Tuesday.

Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Nanded, Combined Workshop, Railway Protection Force, Guntur, Guntakal, Headquarters and Vijayawada will take part in the league-cum-knock-out tournament.

S.M.C. triumphs

At Visakhapatnam, S.M.C. and Naval Children School won the men and schools’ events in the second Nirmala Memorial basketball tournament at the AU Courts on Sunday.

S.M.C. beat N.S.A. 61-37 and Naval School defeated Vignan School ‘A’ 29-19 in the finals.
