“Quota for Muslims not properly implemented”
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: National League on Sunday urged the State government to release a White Paper on seats allotted to Muslim students in professional colleges and jobs given to the community in various government departments.
In a statement here, M. Basheer Ahamed, president of the party, alleged that though the government had announced 3.5 per cent reservations exclusively for the Muslims, it was not properly implemented. “The government should constitute a committee to monitor its implementation.”
“Release prisoners”
Mr. Ahamed also demanded release of prisoners who had already completed 10 years and Muslim youth who were in prison for more than 15 years on the occasion of the birth centenary of former chief minister C.N. Annadurai.
