Karunakaran, Chandy to participate in event

State government polices criticised

KOCHI: Defence Minister A.K. Antony will inaugurate the State-level leadership training camp of the INTUC at Renewal Centre, Kaloor, on Monday.

Addressing mediapersons at the Ernakulam Press Club on Saturday, State president of the union, R. Chandrasekharan blamed the economic policies of the State government for the crisis plaguing traditional sectors, agriculture and the plantation sector.

The government has not changed labour and trade union rules, despite the State secretary of the CPI(M), Pinarayi Vijayan, publicly denouncing bad labour practices like ‘nokkukooli’, he said, adding that the camp will create awareness on these and similar issues.

Senior Congress leader K. Karunakaran, Opposition Leader Ommen Chandy and national president of the INTUC, G. Sanjeeva Reddy, will participate.
