“Non-Indians should follow relevant rules”

CHENNAI: The State government on Saturday said citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, China, Iran, Nepal and Bhutan cannot buy or sell immovable property in India without the permission of the Reserve Bank of India as per rules.
In a press release relating to reports in a section of the press on purchase of property in Tamil Nadu by Sri Lankan refugees, the government clarified that non-Indians should follow relevant rules and orders of the Central government and the RBI for purchasing and selling immovable property.
