KOZHIKODE: An exhibition-cum-sale of medicinal plants and fruit-tree saplings, organised at the Khadi-Gramodyog Emporium, here is drawing crowds. The exhibition christened ‘Njatuvela-08’ has put on display some rare and exotic tree-saplings besides flowering plants and herbs. Several varieties of mango trees that bear fruits throughout the year; ‘Adanium,’ which is known as the ‘Rose of the Desert;’ and saplings of sapless jackfruit trees are some of the rare exhibits. Another ‘colourful’ attraction is the ‘Chamba’ tree, which produces green and red varieties of the ‘Chamba fruit.’ The rare ‘Kosherya’ mango and the sapless jackfruit trees have been brought by N.P. Joy of the Kerala Agricultural University, Mannuthy. A large collection of the gorgeous ‘Euphobia,’ which is called the ‘lucky flowers of Thailand,’ in a range of colours, is another stunning exhibit. More than 400 varieties of tree saplings and herbs from different farms such as Olavanna Botanical Garden, Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala and Kerala Agricultural University, Mannuthy, have been displayed at the exhibition. The saplings have been selected after ensuring the quality of each individual items, said the organisers.
