HYDERABAD: Students belonging to weaker sections could seek admission in educational institutions without paying fee, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy said here on Friday. “Any student belonging to SC, ST, BC and minorities community need not pay fee at the time of seeking admission. They can merely produce their caste certificate and take admission,” he told a gathering of 10 newly-inducted communities in the BC list. “The government is ready to pay the scholarships of all weaker section students who are pursuing education in any institution,” he said, adding that it was determined to see that all eligible students received scholarships. “Our government is committed to providing scholarships to all without any restrictions, unlike the TDP government.” He stated that the government fulfilled the long cherished demand of ten communities by including them in the BC list. They would be eligible to enjoy all the benefits in education and employment. Dr. Reddy also called upon people to join hands with the government to root out corruption. Stating that the government had already launched a massive drive against the corrupt by reviving the functioning of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the Chief Minister advised the opposition parties to realise the fact and cooperate with the government in creating corruption-free environment. Criticises TDPDuring an interaction with elected representatives here on Friday, Dr. Reddy said it was ridiculous on the part of the main opposition TDP to cast aspersions on the government that it was indulging in large scale corruption. Referring to the Transparency International India report on corruption, he said Andhra Pradesh was ranked at the bottom with least corruption. He regretted that even this report was faulted by the TDP and an impression was created that the report had found Rs. 900-crore corruption in the State.
