2 killed in fresh violence in Indore

Indore: Two people were killed and seven injured as fresh communal violence rocked a number of areas here on Friday.

The death toll in two days’ clashes over the Amarnath land transfer issue has gone up to six. An indefinite curfew has been clamped in the entire city.

Collector Rakesh Shrivastava told PTI that the two were killed when unidentified people among a mob fired at them. Seven others were injured in separate incidents.

Fresh violence erupted at Jinsi, Juna Risala, Champa Bagh, Bombay Bazar and Hathipala, where rioters threw stones and clashed with the police and Rapid Action Force personnel.

A group hurled stones at the police in the curfew-bound Khajrana area when the body of a violence victim was being taken for last rites, the police said.

The police fired in the air and lobbed teargas shells to bring the situation under control. A few people were injured in the incident.
