Complaint boxes at all Thodupuzha schools soon

Students can write anonymous complaints

Action against motorbikes carrying more than two students

KATTAPPANA: Complaint boxes will be installed at all educational institutions under the Thodupuzha municipality for college and school students to register their grievances. The police will take immediate action on such complaints, a top police official has said.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of college principals, school headmasters and other officials of educational institutions convened by the Deputy Superintendent of Police K. G. Simon at Thodupuzha recently.

“Students need to just write their complaints on white papers and even without mentioning their names, action will be taken as earlier as possible. This facility will soon be available in other areas in Idukki district,” said the police official adding that policemen posted in each area should collect the complaints on a daily basis.

It is expected that the scheme to be implemented first in Thodupuzha under the Janamaithri Sureksha project in the district will considerably reduce stress on students and help in solving their problems which often get unnoticed. At the meeting, it was also decided to take action against bus staff who are reluctant to carry students and do not halt at bus stops. A letter will be given to the municipal authorities to take action against shops that sell tobacco and other such items near educational institutions.

Sale of CDs that contain pornographic items will be severely dealt with, the sources said.

Raids will be conducted in shops that sell prohibited and misleading items to students.

The police will also take action on drivers of motorbikes which carry more than two students.

School Jagratha Samithis will be formed in every educational institution in which the principal, staff secretary, a teacher, PTA president and two students will be the members.
