Meet organised by Tirupati-based ‘Criya Biolabs’, a research and training centre TIRUPATI: The key-role it plays and the centre-stage ‘biotechnology’ as a subject takes in today’s rural and industrial development has come in for an indepth discussion at the two-day meet organised here on Friday by the Tirupati-based ‘Criya Biolabs’, a research and training centre. The meet was organised in connection with the first anniversary of the Centre. Dr. Ramareddy V. Guntaka, Professor, Department of Molecular Sciences, University of Tennessee, Memphis, USA who was the guest of honour at the meet said that the success of the biotechnology students hinged heavily on the quality of the practical training he or she undergoes and also the time that they spend in their college laboratories. ‘Be careful’ It was in this context that Dr. Ramareddy wanted that the biotechnology students to be careful about the college they choose for their course. He also exhorted them to choose only such colleges which attached due importance to the practicals mode of teaching and in equipping their laboratories with all the required gadgets and parameters.. The Vice-Chancellor the Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa, Dr. A.R. Reddy inaugurated the conference while Prof. Geetha Bali, Vice-Chancellor of the Karnataka State Women’s University, Bijapur delivered the keynote address. Prof. R. Ramamurthy, former VC of SVU presided over the meet. P. Anuradha, Director, Criya Biolabs said the centre offered courses in different modules required for the biotech-based industries.
