Murari (East Godavari dt.): TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu said he would completely waive the loans taken by farmers, DWCRA groups and housing loans if the TDP comes to power in the elections next year and asserted that his party was fully committed to the people’s welfare. He claimed that the TDP was well – placed to stage a comeback in 2009 by taking advantage of the anti – incumbency factor which is quite strong. Addressing people during the ‘Mee Kosam’ tour on Friday after his return from New Delhi, where he participated in the United National Progressive Alliance meeting, Mr. Naidu reiterated that the Congress Government was mired in corruption on an unprecedented scale and said people should not be swayed by the Congress party’s misinformation campaign against the TDP which did its best for development of the State with focus on welfare of the poor. The TDP would get houses constructed for just Rs. 1 lakh for the poor people, supply power for 12 hours for the farm sector, distribute bicycles free of cost to school-going boys in the larger interests of the State. People need not have apprehensions in this regard as the party had done similar things during its previous tenure, he said.
