16 boys to train in Brazil

KOLKATA: A group of 16 school footballers from across the country would train at the famous Brazilian Football Academy (BFA) in Rio de Janeiro. The initiative is part of the ‘grassroots talent hunt,’ organised by Coca-Cola, in a nation-wide programme involving 184 schools from eight cities.

The Indians would be among 312 players from 26 countries who would be undergoing a week-long training camp at BFA from July 7 to 12.

Former international Joe Paul Ancheri will join the team as the coach.

The training at BFA, will be supervised by former Brazil national team coach Carlos Alberto Pereira, who is the technical director.

The selected players: Abhijit Sarkar, Manosh Dawn, Bhola Dey, Sourav Roy, Dipankar Sarkar, Siladitya Seth (all Kolkata), Arjun Dutt, Raghuvir Khare, Avyay Gujral (all Gurgaon), Samrat Chandrashekhar Golhar, Darshit Thakkar, Sagar Sailesh Sorathi (all Mumbai), Parminder Singh (Chandigarh), Manish Kumar (Bangalore), Kesarla Kunal (Chennai) and Albert Gonsalves (Goa).
