UPA government will survive, says TSR

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: Senior Congress leader and MP T. Subbarami Reddy on Thursday said the United Progressive Alliance Government would complete its full term.

Justifies N-deal

Replying to a question on the threat to withdraw support by Left parties over nuclear deal issue, he told reporters that he did not know why they were opposing it.

He justified the nuclear deal and hoped that the differences would be sorted out.

Sonia’s pat

Asked to comment on parleys being held with Samajwadi Party leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh to bail out the coalition in the event of Left withdrawing its support, he said for the cause of secularism, they would certainly support the Central Government.

Meanwhile, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has appreciated Mr. Subbarami Reddy for taking up various welfare activities for the benefit of poor people in Visakhapatnam.

Welfare work

In a letter to Mr. Reddy, Ms. Gandhi said “I appreciate the welfare work done by you in Visakhapatnam.”

Mr. Reddy denied that he was taking up various activities with an eye on Lok Sabha elections saying he had been elected to the Rajya Sabha for a six-year term.

Mr. Reddy said that he had been nourishing the city and its neighbouring areas for 30 years without any motive to gain political mileage.

“I am serving in my individual capacity. If I get posts, I can do it better,” he said.
