Weir Minerals centre inauguration today

Staff Reporter

VISAKHAPATNAM: Weir Minerals Total Care Centre will be inaugurated in Muralinagar on Friday by Weir Group (Indian operations) president Naveen Ganju.

Weir group, a multinational, has corporate office at Bangalore and delivers slurry equipment solutions including pumps, valves, wear resistant linings and de-watering products.

Deployment of tug

The management of Visakhapatnam Port Trust stopped the deployment of a private tug on Wednesday due to united opposition by marine and floating staff, CITU-affiliated UPDE Union president K.S. Kumar said on Thursday.

The management tried to bring a private tug into the port but the workers stopped work and had vehemently opposed its deployment.

The management agreed to stop the move and hold talks within two weeks regarding private launches.

“This is a moral victory of the united fight by working class in the port in recent times,” Mr. Kumar said.
