Students told to protect environment
Special Correspondent
TIRTHAHALLI: Tirthahalli MLA Kimmane Rathnakar said on Tuesday that environment conservation, which was essential for human development, was the responsibility of the entire society and not just the Government.
Inaugurating the seminar on “Conservation of environment” organised by the District Information Office at the Government College at Basavani in Tirthahalli taluk, he referred to several causes for environmental degradation and called for concerted efforts to tackle them by creating awareness at all levels.
Mr. Rathnakar called for active involvement of schoolchildren in tree plantation programme.
He gave away prizes to three students who were winners in the essay competitions held as part of the function.
