Souvenir to mark Azeez Sait’s birth anniversary

It will outline his contribution to the welfare of the poor


MYSORE: The Karnataka Wakf Development Corporation is planning to bring out a souvenir to mark the former Minister Azeez Sait’s 88th birth anniversary, which falls on January 1, 2009.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting convened by the corporation here recently.

The souvenir, which will be brought out in Kannada, Urdu and English, will outline the late Minister’s contribution to the welfare of the poor, particularly “beedi” workers.

The Souvenir Committee will have former Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore and Goa Universities B. Sheikh Ali as patron, and former Minister Tanvir Sait as chairman. The meeting was attended by Iqbal Parwan, Karnataka Wakf Development Corporation Director; Gaffar Shakeel,former chairman of Karnataka Urdu Academy; and Shoukath Pasha, general secretary of Mysore Beedi Mazdoor Association.
