Helihop to the airport from today

Bangalore: Private sector company Deccan Aviation on Monday announced the launch of helicopter charter service from the Bengaluru International Airport to select locations in the city.

A Bell 206 Jet Ranger will be deployed for the service, a release said.

Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will inaugurate the facility at the airport on Tuesday.

The service, called Deccan Skylimo, will begin operations from the airport to Electronics City, Whitefield and HAL while Palace Grounds will be added shortly.

The first service will start at 6.30 a.m. and the last drop to BIA would be at 6 p.m. daily.

“The helicopter service will address the issue of airport connectivity for business travellers to the city and provide a convenient alternative to road travel,” the press note said.

The fare for these helicopter charters are in the range of Rs. 4,800 to Rs. 5,800 per person per trip. — PTI
