Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Indian Academy of Science will be holding a series of lectures by eminent scientists on July 4 and 5, as part of its 18th mid-year meeting.

Scientists from several institutes from around the world, including the Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, Mumbai; Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, will address the meeting, according to a press release.

There will be two special lectures — one by A. Surolia of the National Institute of Immunology on “The joy of exploring the rich repertoire of carbohydrate motifs and their shapely lectin receptors” on Friday; and the second by Srikumar Banerjee, Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai, on the “Structural transitions: discrete versus continuous” on Saturday.

Anil Kakodkar, Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, will deliver a public lecture on the “Evolving Indian nuclear programme: rationale and perspectives,” on Friday. The lectures will be held at the Faculty Hall, Indian Institute of Science.
