Injured constables operated upon

VISAKHAPATNAM: A pellet was removed from the temporal region of N. Sekhar, a Greyhound constable, who is among the eight injured in the Maoists’ attack on a launch in which the Greyhound constables were sailing in the Chitrakonda reservoir on Sunday.

Mr. Sekhar and other injured persons were brought here by a Navy helicopter and were admitted to the Seven Hills Hospital. K. Bhaskara Rao suffered auxiliary artillery and median nerve injuries and was treated.

A bullet pierced the left shoulder of A. Rambabu while Md. Khaja Mia and M. Subramanyeswara Rao suffered abrasions on left elbow and left shoulder respectively. Chandu Naik suffered a head injury but a CT scan revealed that he was in a normal condition. M. Rama Rao had fractured his left humerus which needed a screw to be fixed and S. Srinivasa Raju’s right elbow was fractured and small pellets were removed.
