IPI condemns attack on scribes
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: The International Press Institute has expressed concern over the attack on Malayala Manorama journalists by activists of the Students Federation of India in Kerala last week.
In a letter to Kerala Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan and Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, the IPI also commented upon police inaction. “Physical attacks on journalists represent the most serious threat to the fundamental right to press freedom. As such, all action must be taken to ensure that the perpetrators of these attacks are brought to justice, and that such events do not repeat themselves,” IPI Director David Dadge said in his letter.
