Gear up for polls: TNCC chief

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president M. Krishnasswamy has appealed to party workers to gear up for the Lok Sabha elections. As party president Sonia Gandhi had set a deadline of August 31 for them to come up with specific programmes, and strategies, the TNCC chief wanted partymen to get the revised list of voters from the offices concerned.

In a statement here on Monday, Mr. Krishnasswamy wanted them to organise street-corner public meetings and functions in their areas to propagate the Centre’s achievements under the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Gandhi. They should prepare pamphlets, compact discs and audio cassettes on various welfare programmes being implemented by the Centre and play them in every nook and corner of the State so that people were aware of the programmes.
