GULBARGA: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has told a delegation of the Karnataka State Daily Wage Employees’ Association that the issue of regularisation of services of over 17,000 daily wage workers in various government departments will be taken up after the budget session.

President of the Karnataka State Daily Wage Employees’ Association Chandrasekhar Hiremath, who has been spearheading the agitation for regularisation of the services of daily wage workers, told presspersons here on Sunday that the delegation called on the Chief Minister in Bangalore a few days ago.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister had stated that after the budget session he would consult the Law Secretary and the Advocate General and take up the issue of regularisation in the Cabinet meeting, Mr. Hiremath said.

Mr. Yeddyurappa said he had not forgotten the promise given to daily wage workers when he was Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Hiremath said.

Mr. Hiremath said that the workers had decided to revive their agitation to press for regularisation in the last week of August if the Government failed implement its promise.

The Government took a decision to implement the policy of uniform minimum wage payment to workers in all the departments after the association took up the issue with the Governor, he added.
